Work groups provide a place for you to meet with others who understand what you are going through. It is a place of safety, growth, connection, and healing, with no judgment, criticism, or shame.
Partner recovery groups are not a complaining or “blame him” group. It is a structured work group where a small group of women meet weekly in a space created for confidentiality and restoration. There is freedom to talk about the difficult things, to encourage each other, hold each other accountable to the steps of recovery, and go through the partner recovery material. There are pertinent weekly discussion topics and checkins to assess progress.
Intimacy anorexia work groups are tailored to the person who desires to change the emotional, spiritual, and sexual withholding behavior toward their spouse. This work group makes sure you, as an intimacy anorexic, are following through on the commitment to move towards your spouse through the daily exercises, as well as progressing in the 12 steps. Group members find the group support and accountability essential to quitting the addictive process of creating distance and pain in their marriage.
Married and Alone work group is for you if you are married to an intimacy anorexic.The first thing you will learn in this group is that it is not your fault. The anorexic partner is responsible for his or her actions. Even though you are powerless to fix the addiction pattern in your marriage it is not hopeless.
In group, you will learn how to set effective boundaries, how to stop reacting to your spouse’s anorexic patterns, and most importantly, how to regain your sanity and determine what your options are. You will be surrounded by a group of women who are going through the same patterns in their marriage. They will support you and hold you accountable work towards healing.
All group sessions are 60-90 minutes and are led by a therapist trained in partner recovery and intimacy anorexia patterns. It is a safe place of acceptance, where you will feel connected and understood.
